There’s a phrase that traps many people: “It’s all in your head.” As if the brain floated above the body. As if anxiety, impulsivity, brain fog, mood swings, or food compulsions were purely issues of character, thought, or willpower. Yet, the brain is an organ. It consumes energy, depends on mitochondria, reacts to inflammation, insulin, cortisol, sleep, amino acids, fats, glucose, and ketone bodies.
